Blogging

Google Buzz

Did you know that you could actually attract a huge amount of traffic from other people’s blogs to your blog? Yes, it is possible and it is simple too.

First you need to choose the right blogs for this. The best blogs would be those run by leaders in your industry or niche. This is because their blogs would already attract a large number of people. The next task is to comment on their blog posts on a regular basis so that other people reading the blog posts or the comments start to notice you. Finally, you attract them to your blog using links in those comments.
Now if you think commenting on blogs is a tiresome activity and not worth the effort, you are totally mistaken. There are right ways to comment and there are wrong ways to comment and moreover, there are tools which you can use to attract people to your blog. This is what I am going to share with you today.
But first you must accept the importance of commenting and realize how valuable it is. Not only do you get a chance to learn something by visiting and reading the blogs of industry leaders, you can also get to drive traffic to your blog.

Step 1: Identify the Right Blogs to comment on
Not all blogs will give you the same results if you comment on them. If you have identified several industry leaders and their blogs, you must check if their blogs have the following tools on them. If they understand the usefulness of these tools, they will surely have them on their blogs. These tools are the Top Commentators pluggin, the Gravatar pluggin and the CommentLuv pluggin.

The Top Commentators pluggin lists the names of people who comment the most on the blog. This means that your efforts will get recognized. If you comment regularly, you will be seen in the list of top commentators by other people and they would automatically be attracted to what you write and also to your blog.

The Gravatar pluggin allows your gravatar to be shown along with your comment. (To know more about Gravatar, go here http://en.gravatar.com/. Having a gravatar shown along with your comment is good for your personal branding.

Finally, the CommentLuv pluggin displays a link to your latest blog post along with your comment. This way, when someone reads your comment, they can immediately visit your blog to read your content.

Step 2: Commenting in the Right Way
The wrong way to comment is obviously to promote your blog blatantly on another’s blog. If you do this, the blog owner will probably ban you.

Your comments must be related to the thread of discussion started by the blog post. By posting intelligent and valuable comments, you will naturally attract other people to what you are saying. Once in a while you could comment on another person’s comment in order to clarify a point or to start a conversation.
Whenever you are intimated about the latest blog post from the blogs you are following, make it a point to make a comment as quickly as you can. This is because when other people come and read the blog post, they will already see your comment and read that too. This is a great way to get noticed.  So if you use the above two steps with diligence and patience, you will soon get a huge amount of FREE traffic to your blog.

Believe in Yourself,
Ange;-)

Hey Angela, this is a great strategy that you brought up. I usually participate and comment on blogs that I like that give value and in return, it does drive traffic and not only that creates free linkbacks to your websites depending on the blog. Not the most traffic, but can range anywhere from 10 – 100+ unique visitors for each comment. Great post :)

      Hi Angela,

You’re so right on. If you’re going to take the time to find a blog and comment- why not make an impression? To me, there’s no better way to get to know someone then expressing your appreciation for their work (assuming you like it) by leaving a valuable comment. It’s also a much better way to attract a blogger’s attention than spamming that person :) .
