Blogging, Online Marketing

Google Buzz

I would not be exaggerating if I say that WordPress is the best blogging platform available today. If you are an Internet Entrepreneur depending a lot on social networks for generating leads for your business, then WordPress offers a host of pluggins. These pluggins push your blog posts that extra mile which can become a significant factor in your success.

There are literally thousands of pluggins available for Wordpress. However, some of them have only cosmetic value while others have proved to be highly profitable for business. I, for one, enjoy exploring different pluggins and finding out which ones work best for me and my friends. I am going to share with you the top 8 WordPress pluggins that I have found extremely useful or that top bloggers are using today. I would highly recommend these pluggins and would strongly encourage you to try these out in your blogs.

So here we go – the top 8 WordPress Pluggins I am recommending

1. Share This – This pluggin will allow your readers to share your content with their friends on social networking sites and social bookmarking sites. There are other pluggins which offer similar functionality like Sociable and I Love Social Bookmarking. You could choose the one you like.

2. CommentLuv – I love this pluggin because it allows the blogger to appreciate the comments made by readers on their blog. The pluggin displays the commenter’s latest blog post along with a heart icon thus driving some traffic to their blogs. CommentLuv is a nice pluggin to have on your blog.

3. Tweetmeme – This pluggin allows your readers to share your post (re-tweet) with their Twitter followers. The pluggin also tracks the number of such re-tweets and displays them along with your blog post. Nice little proof to showcase your popularity! You could also know the exact message re-tweeted by adding @yourusername in the settings.

4. What Would Seth Godin Do – Wouldn’t you want to know whether the person reading your blog post is a new visitor or a returning visitor. Well, this smart pluggin not only tells you that but also greets the visitors with appropriate welcome messages which can be preset by you. I would say this gives your blog post a warm personal touch.

5. Tiny MCE Advanced – This is a neat little pluggin that allows you to write your blog post with all the formatting features available in Microsoft Word. This will allow you to change font type and size, adjust paragraph spacing, choose bullets and numbering and apply other types of formatting.

6. Viper’s Video QuickTags Want to embed a YouTube video along with your blog post? This pluggin will help you do that. Apart from YouTube, this pluggin also supports other video sharing sites like Vimeo, Google Video and others. A similar pluggin for pictures is NexGen Gallery using which you can add slideshows on your blog post.

7. Comment Re-direct – This is a great pluggin for building relationships especially with first time commenters on your blog posts. Basically, the pluggin helps you to direct such first time commenters to a page of your choice where you can thank them for their feedback and comments. Use this pluggin along with CommentLuv.

8. WP Related Posts – I always want my readers to spend more time on my blog and read other blog posts too. So I use WP Related Posts pluggin which lists other related blog posts under the main blog.

If you want to add any of these great pluggins, you will need to go to your WordPress dashboard and click on Pluggins > Add New from the left sidebar. Search for the pluggin name and when you find it, install it. Follow the directions and decide on the settings you want for the pluggin. It’s that simple.

I hope you have received some useful information in this post. I would love to hear from you. Please re-tweet this post or share it with your Facebook friends or simply leave a comment below.

      Angela,
Great Article. I use a few of these tools on my blogs. I would also like to recommend – All in one SEO and Deep Link Engine. Those two plugins have accelerated my blog traffic within days. Maybe we can link to each others site in the future. Have a great day and once again “Nice Work”!

Great post Angela. I am using a couple of the plugins on your list and was introduced to several new ones that I can’t wait to try.

I interview youth entrepreneurs and I want to put the mp3 recordings in the post when I do a featured story. I want the reader to have access to at least the play, pause and stop button but not the ability to download the recording. What plugin do you recommend?

      Thanks for your suggestion.

      Hi Angela,
Really useful, no-nonsense post particularly the Tiny MCE Advanced plugin, this is because I had a struggle today with my first (I deleted all my previous posts by mistake) blog post trying to get to look how I usually see it with Word. I had backups but in the Word format and found I just could not get to look how I wanted it. I’ll definitely download it now.
